High humidity

High humidity in your house can result in the same symptoms as for rising damp, damp walls or leaking cellars. Examples of the symptoms are:

- Patches of mould on the wall
- Wallpaper coming off the wall
- Water in the cellar
- Damp walls
- Damp smell
- Condensation on the windows

Generally the consequences of too high humidity can quickly be reduced by good ventilation in the house and maintaining a constant temperature.

Other major causes of high humidity are:

Double-glazing and a few possibilities for ventilation.
Turning off the central heating when leaving your house.
Poor ventilation in bathrooms.
